About the production
Step into the vibrant, unpredictable world of Zazà! – a mini marionette cabaret bursting with eccentric wooden characters, comic surprises and the passionate spirit of Scaramucce, the masked marionettist always in search of belonging.
Created and performed by Giulia Ruggiero, aka Scaramucce, this 35-minute street-friendly show is a whirlwind of movement, music and mischief. Through a mix of traditional Italian mask theatre and clever contemporary puppetry, Zazà! invites audiences to meet:
A skeleton with serious rhythm
A melancholic child seeking connection
A fiery tenor full of operatic drama
Guided by the ever-curious Scaramucce, each act reveals a different tale of joy, longing, and playful transformation. It’s part vaudeville, part clown, all heart.

In 2023, she created the persona of Scaramucce and began collaborating with Rasid Nikolic (aka The Gipsy Marionettist), weaving mask and marionette into a unique blend of storytelling.
