Stage Manager and Puppet Tech at Life and Limb Puppets CIC

Life and Limb Puppets CIC are looking for an experienced and adaptable Stage Manager and Puppet Tech to join their team for the development and first performances of their new show, At Sea. This is a fantastic opportunity for puppeteers or technical professionals to be part of an exciting project in a close-knit, creative environment.
Location: North East
Salary: £20k - £25k (Full-time, Contract)
Start Date: June 23rd, 2025
The role runs on a short-term, one-month contract (4 weeks), with a fixed fee of £2,320 (£580 per week). It involves 3 weeks of rehearsals (10am-6pm) and 1 week of performances (9am-4pm), with the potential for additional work in late August at the National Theatre.
Responsibilities:
Assisting the Director with production and rehearsal duties.
Managing the rehearsal room and cast.
Creating and maintaining props/puppet lists, setting lists, and show bible.
Ensuring Health & Safety protocols are followed.
Operating Qlab (sound, light, and AV) during rehearsals and performances.
Maintaining and repairing puppets under the Director’s guidance.
Essential Experience:
Technical/stage management experience, ideally on tour and in non-traditional spaces.
Experience with puppets in performance.
Proficiency working with materials like wood, metal, plastic, and foam.
Ability to think creatively and problem-solve.
Experience operating Qlab and working under pressure.
Desirable Experience:
Previous experience as a Puppet Tech.
First Aid qualification.
Experience editing sound, light, and AV cues on Qlab.
